Great Oak Receives Award For Outstanding Service

 Great Oak Youth Development Center was recently nominated and selected as a Cumberland County recipient of the 2009 North Carolina Award for Oustanding Volunteer Service. Great Oak went on to compete at the state level and was one of 20 organizations selected, finishing with the 3rd highest score.

Great Oak Provides Cultural Awareness To Men and Boys.

On July 16, 2009, Great Oak and its mentoring program took men and boys on a trip to Washignton D.C.

Reading Buddies Program Underway for 2011

Great Oak's Reading Buddies Program started the 2011 sessions on 19 January.  The intent was to hold the first session on 12 January.  Snow in our area caused a delay.  However, the program is well underway.  Reading Buddies is conducted by Great Oak in partnership with First Baptist Church on Moore Street.

How to Help

Great Oak is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit. We rely on donations for a substational portion of our funding to run our program. Every aspect of the services we provide to students is free. Our program expenses range from facility and materials for Leadership Academy to transportation for students as part of our cultural awareness activities. Every donation for Great Oak will make a difference in assisting in building lasting foundations for our youth.
