Mentoring: The mission of the mentoring program is to positively impact the lives of male youth by developing one-on-one relationships between boys and men that consist of focused, consistent, and quality involvement conducted over an extended period of timeThe program provides an opportunity for boys to develop useful life skills, learn about work and responsibility, plan for the future, improve attitudes and school performance, and build self-confidence.

Leadership Academy
:  The objective of Great Oak Leadership Academy is to build self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-image.   Program design is based on setting high expectations, demanding continuous improvement, and creating an environment of distinction.  Student will participate in areas that develop leadership skills.  These boys will, in turn, take on leadership roles in the various programs of the Organization.  This is an ongoing program.

Parental Involvement
:  Realizing that maximizing our effort to help youth be successful in life requires, at least, some attention to the influences of home on a young person, the Parental Involvement program seeks to encourage and prepare parents to be a positive part of their child’s growth process.  Parents are reached through quarterly meetings where discussions and activities provide insights for productive parenting.

Summer Leadership and Entrepreneurs’ Camp:  Great Oak Summer Leadership and Entrepreneurs Camp (GOLEC) is a two-week camp designed to build self-esteem and self-confidence through leadership and entrepreneurship activities, field trips, and cultural awareness.  Participants will learn about planning, designing and financing a business.  They will complete the program by creating a final visual for their project and presenting it at the end of the program.  Please recommend youth who enjoy asking questions, solving problems, building things, and learning.

Reading Buddies: Great Oak Reading Buddies is a program for K-3rd graders that promotes reading confidence through the use of developmentally-appropriate literature, games and activities.  Students are paired one-on-one with an adult (Buddy) who focuses on providing fun ways to strengthen phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension strategies.
